The Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square, Beijing

National Grand Theater, Beijing
This was a building to behold, all this modern architecture amongst the staid 50's style monolithic buildings on Tiananmen Square. We were very impressed by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo's contemporary performance of Sleeping Beauty as told from the Prince's viewpoint. The glass and titanium egg-shaped building is surrounded by a pool of water.

The Emperor's Throne Room

Exquisite clocks from the 17th and 18th century from England for Qing Emperors. The museum had over 100 clocks of every imaginable type from running water to pirouting dancers to tell time.
