Various sights in Xi'an

An evening in the Muslim Quarter.

Xi'an was the initial start of the Silk Route.

Xi’an Bell and Drum Tower Museum

The Bell and Drum Towers acted like a clock in that they rang and drummed for both the morning and evening hours.

On the upper level of the Bell Tower we heard a classic Chinese concert.

The original wall surrounding the old city of Xi’an.

Xi'an was the birthplace of Chinese civilization under the first Emperor of China. His name is why the country is called China. And no, we didn't ask people if they ate on china.

The moat surrounding the old city.

Cave Dwellings

It was quite amazing to get to meet people who live in these caves as we were introduced to them by our guide. People have been living in caves in Shanxi for almost 5000 years and currently over 3 million people still do so.
